Check Engine Light Service

The Check Engine Light, also known as the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is designed to indicate when there is a problem with your vehicle’s systems including: transmission, engine, or emission control system. These indications are a simple and effective way to let the driver know when their car is due for service. When you see any of the system warning lights activated, bring your BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz into Eurotekk Automotive and Performance Inc. to have a qualified and experienced mechanic diagnose your car. It is best not to ignore the Check Engine Service Light. Delaying service will only lead to a more significant repair at a later date.

What Does the Check Engine Light Mean?

In most modern vehicles, the Malfunction Indicator Light can warn the driver of three different types of problems:

  • Solid Light: when the indicator light stays on constantly it indicates a significant problem that requires action to be taken soon.
  • Periodic flashing: when the light is flickering only on occasion this means you engine is experiencing a temporary engine malfunction and you should be aware of the issue in case it persists or becomes more serious.
  • Steady Flashing: when the Check Engine Light(s) flash constantly it is a warning that cannot be ignored. The risk of not stopping your engine immediately is that it may cause a major malfunction. It is best to have you vehicle towed to a mechanic if the warning lights are exhibiting a constant flashing.
