Driveline Service and Repair
The driveline (drivetrain) is the automotive system that connect the engine and transmission to your vehicles axle(s), that turns your wheels. The driveline will have a proportionate number of propeller shafts (driveshafts) depending on whether your vehicle is 2 wheel-drive or 4-wheel drive.
Your vehicles driveline design can be either a rear, front, or all-wheel drive set up. Additionally, there are transfer cases, front or rear differentials, CV (Constant Velocity) axles, and U-joints in the front and rear drive shafts that should all be serviced as required.
The transfer case receives power from the transmission and sends it to both the front and rear axles. It is the differential gearing that permits the outer drive wheel to rotate faster than the inner drive wheel while turning. When the vehicle turns, you vehicle needs the differential gearing to make the wheel that is traveling around the outside of the turning curve to roll farther and faster than the other. While one wheel increases in speed, there is a complimentary decrease of speed in the other.
The CV joints are how a drive shaft is able to transmit power through any angle while maintaining a constant rotational speed. Your vehicles U-joint (universal joint) is a coupling in a rigid rod that allows the rod to ‘bend’ in any direction, and is used in the drive shaft(s).

Driveline Tubing Troubleshooting
Twisted Tubing: Shock load can cause failure in the driveline. A twisted tube, is a uncommon problem that is possibly related to poor driving habits, such as popping the clutch or spinning tires. In both cases the tires can gain traction on the road abruptly and can twist the tubes in the driveline. If you drive aggressively, please visit Eurotekk to keep your vehicle performing as it should.
Fractured Tubing: This form of tubing failure can come from the drive shaft assembly. The first indication of fractured tubing may be a failure in tube yoke weld seam (or the “circle” weld). This would be known as a “fatigue” failure as the tube cracks at the start of the weld and progresses around the tube. High U-joint operating angles can accelerate fatigue failures.
