Your car’s transmission is possibly the most complex component in your BMW, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz. When it is time to replace this critical piece of your engine, trust your European import to Alin, the expert technician at Eurotekk Automotive and Performance Inc. in Edmonton.
The transmission is responsible for shifting gears in both automatic or manually configurations. It needs to be able to change the speed-torque ratio to transfer power from the engine to the wheels, and to do so efficiently based on the momentum of the vehicle. Your engine`s output at high rotational speed cannot be used for low speeds or starting, and vice versa. Through gear ratios, the transmission can reduce the speed of rotation and increase the power, or torque, that is transferred to the wheels.
Most cars have a five, six, seven, or eight speed transmission. What this means is that the car has either five, six, seven, or eight gearing options to select from in order to maximize the efficiency of movement. These gear ratios allow the vehicle to travel at different speeds and applying different amounts of torque from the engine.
Because the transmission is in use whenever the vehicle is in motion, it receives a lot of wear and tear. To alleviate wear, we recommend bringing your vehicle in for our vital fluid flush service. In the event of a leak, toping up your transmission fluid can extend the life and improve the performance of your transmission. But eventually, any leak should be repaired. It is also a more economical option than transmission replacement.
